The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a wonderful old style oceanside amusement park crowded into a narrow strip of land along the Main Beach of Santa Cruz. It has won best seaside amusement park awards repeatedly over the years and is a great destination for families and tourists. For me, it is a short 15 minute drive to this location. The roller coaster seen in the image above celebrated it’s 100 year anniversary a few years ago.
One of the regular events that happen during the summer holidays is the free Friday night beach concerts. Concert goers line up on the beach in the mid afternoon to get the coveted prime seating for the 2 shows (you can stay for both) when the seating area opens at 4pm. Tonight we were down to catch Eddie Money – most of the bands that in the line-up are Top 40 bands from the 70’s to early 90’s.
During the intermission, I walked down the beach and clicked this image that featured the ponds that remain from the adjacent river and ocean interaction at low tide.
